Outlet Sweep: Find the Right Journalist at the Outlets That Matter

Hi there,

You usually know which outlet you want. The harder part is who to send it to there. That's what Medialyst helps you with now, at the outlets that matter most for your story.

Here's what just shipped:

1. Outlet Sweep: the right person, not just the right outlet

Give Medialyst your story and it now picks the outlets that matter most for it. Then it finds the right person at each one: who writes there now, who covers your angle, and who's the best fit for the story in general .

Outlet Sweep agents are the second type of agents to join our sweep family, following the Beat Sweep agents we launched in August. You'll see the outlets in your coverage plan before the list builds, and you can watch which ones it's checking while it works.

2. Reuters, finally

Reuters blocks AI from reading its stories. So we haven't been surfacing anyone from Reuters even when it was the right outlet for your story.

Now with Outlet Sweep we finally can -- Medialyst will find the Reuters reporters who would be the best fit to cover your story. Same for other outlets that block AI agents: FT, The Times, The Economist, and more. We got 'em all!

3. See who replied

I promised this one back in April. Drumroll... it's here!

When you pitch from Medialyst through Gmail or Outlook, Pitch Analytics now shows who replied, right next to who opened, along with your reply rate. No more digging through your inbox to work out who to follow up with.

If you connected your inbox a while ago, reconnect your email in Settings > Connections to enable this feature.

4. Carly Score this week (71.1→82.0)

Outlet Sweep did what...

This week's Carly Score: 82.0 (+10.9 vs last week).

Carly had to jump on two breaking news stories for separate clients this week, so she utilized medialyst to help her source contacts for one of them. Turns out it was able to find several journalists she wouldn't have even thought of! Not only that, but they turned into actual stories for her client. Not too shabby!

One change: from here, the Carly Score comes out every other week. Everything left on our list to raise it takes more than a week to build. We'll get there.

Also new this week

  • Excel export. Download any list as an .xlsx spreadsheet, with the same columns you see in the app.

  • Better Radar in Slack. "I love this radar feature, it slaps 1000% :)" - from an agency owner. We've been getting rave reviews with the new Radar feature we shipped last week. This week we made each story in your Slack digest show why it fits your client, the angle to pitch, and you can also click a button to find who to pitch it to. (screenshot below)
