The 5 best Rephonic alternatives for 2026

Last updated October 2026 · independently researched

Rephonic is a podcast research and outreach database: listener estimates, demographics, audience overlap and contact emails for 4M+ podcasts, from $99/mo.

People look for an alternative for three reasons. They want a tool built around booking clients, not researching audiences. They need journalists as well as podcasts. Or they want more seats for the money: Rephonic's $99 Light plan is one user with 100 searches a month. Here are five options. Two are podcast-first, one is journalist-first, and two cover both.

How we ranked these

Ranked on what actually decides a workflow.

Our methodology

We make Medialyst and rank it first for journalist discovery. For booking podcast guests, Podseeker or PodPitch is the better tool, and we say so. Podseeker also lists Medialyst on its PR resources page. Every claim about another tool comes from its own public pages, checked on 12 October 2026 (PodPitch on 5 October 2026). Muck Rack's podcast figures come from its May 2026 announcement.

1
MedialystOur pick5.0/5 on G2
AI-native journalist discovery — story-in, verified list out
Medialyst interface

Medialyst is the AI-native media list builder. Instead of handing you a giant database to filter and vet yourself, it reads hundreds of articles relevant to your specific announcement, surfaces the journalists who actually cover it, and scores them 0–100 by fit with reasoning grounded in their recent work. Every email it delivers was validated in the last 14 days or is re-checked when you build the list, and you pay only for verified emails. It runs from a chat box — paste a release, a URL, or a one-line description — and from inside Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor via a public REST API and a hosted remote MCP server. Pricing is public, monthly, and contract-free; your first list is free with no credit card.

Pros

  • Story-specific relevance scoring grounded in journalists' actual recent articles, not keyword filters
  • Pay 1 credit only when a verified email is delivered — misses are free, and every email was validated in the last 14 days or is re-checked at build time
  • Public, monthly, contract-free pricing with a free first list
  • Agent-native: public REST API + hosted remote MCP, usable inside Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor
  • Upload any competitor CSV and the agent re-verifies and re-scores every contact

Cons

  • Newer than the legacy incumbents — not the choice if a recognizable enterprise brand name is itself the requirement
  • Focused on discovery, pitching, and verification rather than broad social-listening or share-of-voice dashboards

2
Podseeker4.7/5 on G2
The podcast database for getting clients booked
Podseeker interface

Rephonic leads with audience research. Podseeker leads with the booking job. You set up a profile for each client, and it recommends shows ranked by Client Fit (Excellent, Good, Weak or Poor). Every show is also rated for booking difficulty, from “very low (open to most pitches)” to “very high (only books established experts with significant credentials).” Contacts include host and producer emails, and each record shows its own verification status. Pitches and follow-ups go out from your own Gmail or Outlook, in the original thread, and a pipeline tracks what got booked, declined or skipped. It costs $99 a month for 3 seats, month to month, with a 3-day trial (card required). Its own data on 6,546 pitches found that very-high-fit pitches booked at 5.6%, against 1.2% for very-low-fit ones. Its database size isn't published.

Pros

  • Booking difficulty on every show, from very low to very high, based on who the show books
  • Client Fit scores per client profile, so one account works for a whole client roster
  • Host and producer emails, each marked with its verification status
  • Pitches and in-thread follow-ups from your own Gmail or Outlook, with a booking pipeline
  • Public, month-to-month pricing: $99/mo includes 3 seats

Cons

  • Podcasts only: Podseeker itself points you to a broader media database for journalists, TV, radio and newsletters
  • Not built to replace Rephonic's audience research (its own words), and no database size published
  • The trial is 3 days and needs a card; CSV export isn't available until you're on a paid plan
  • No annual plan or price for a 4th seat published; more seats means contacting sales

PodPitch
Podcasts, press and newsletters in one outreach loop
PodPitch interface

PodPitch publishes the most detailed podcast data of the tools here. Its database page claims 3.85M+ podcasts refreshed every 24 hours, with verified host emails, listener counts and demographics, Match Scores and Virality Scores. It also covers reporters and newsletter writers. It writes each pitch in your voice, sends from your inbox, follows up in the same thread and drafts replies in Magic Inbox. Every account includes the separate MagicPitch sales-outreach product. The trade-off is the buying process. As of 5 October 2026, PodPitch doesn't list plan prices on its pages, and it sends buyers to a free 15-minute demo. Its journalist-side data isn't documented in the same depth as its podcast data.

Pros

  • 3.85M+ podcasts refreshed every 24 hours, with listener counts and demographics
  • Podcasts, reporters and newsletter writers in one search
  • Drafts in your voice, sends from your inbox, follows up in-thread and drafts replies
  • Unlimited client profiles, and team seats are free from 2 to 200 people

Cons

  • No public plan prices; buying starts with a demo
  • Self-serve trial terms not documented
  • Journalist-side methodology isn't documented as deeply as its podcast data

Muck Rack
The journalist database with podcast monitoring
Muck Rack interface

Muck Rack is the closest thing to an all-in-one for teams that need journalists and podcasts in the same tool. It is journalist-first, and in May 2026 it said it monitors more than 2 million podcasts, about 65,000 of them with full searchable transcripts. That makes it strong for tracking where clients are mentioned on podcasts. Muck Rack doesn't publish prices: its pricing page shows Starter, Standard and Premier with a “Contact us” button on each. Vendr reports a median buyer paying $13,000 a year.

Pros

  • Journalists and podcast monitoring in one product
  • 2M+ podcasts monitored, about 65,000 with searchable transcripts
  • A long-established journalist database and monitoring suite

Cons

  • Podcast audience demographics aren't part of its May 2026 announcement
  • No published prices; Vendr reports a $13,000/yr median
  • No free trial published; the path in is a sales proposal

  • PR Academy lessons for DIY founders

  • Less podcast data than Rephonic or Podseeker
